Tanya Sanchez has been working with children and their families since 1995. Ms. Sanchez is a Licensed Speech Pathologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Certified Bilingual Teacher of Speech and Hearing, Certified Educational Leader and is PROMPT certified.
In 1995, she graduated from the Speech and Language program at Teachers College Columbia University and has continued to evolve ever since. In constant pursuit to further her understanding of best practices she returned to school and completed her Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Certification as well as her Educational Leadership Certification for teaching.
Ms. Sanchez started a private practice now known as Emilia's Kids in NYC which is now a Center for Early Childhood Development with Early Intervention and therapy programs. Ms. Sanchez created her center as a learning institute for novice therapists, knowing the responsibility and need to train in best practices for working with the ASD population. Emilia's Kids currently services over 700 students in NYC.
Ms. Sanchez believes in training and supporting parents for language/speech stimulation, behavior strategies and feeding difficulties to improve family dynamics and children's progress. She is comfortable working in-office and home-based for Early Intervention, preschool, and school-age children. Ms. Sanchez is trained in oral-motor, sensory integration, PROMPT and Interactive Metronome. Her specialty is in providing services for Early Childhood, oral motor, dyspraxia and augmentative and alternative communication.
Currently, Ms. Sanchez is dedicated to furthering Relationship based therapy with the focus on acceptance and assent-based skill development in the field of ABA. She has a passion for educating providers on cultivating joy and trust with students and families by incorporating compassion and trauma-informed practices. She incorporates the practice of Reflective Supervision to her supervisees as part of this process.
Ms. Sanchez is also the mother of two young adults. She understands the journey parents face in guiding their children through the myriad of hurdles they face in school and life, especially when needing special services. Her goal is to help all children, including her own, become happy healthy adults.
